On the July 7, 2009 the delegation of the European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation, headed by Chairmen Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Moshe Kantor, has carried out a series of political consultations on the state of tolerance in Poland, as well as Polish-Jewish relations.

The main event was the visit to the Presidential Palace and meeting with President of Poland, H.E. Lech Kaczyński. The delegation presented to the President the idea behind the creation of the ECTR, and informed Him on the composition of the Board of the ECTR and the current and planned activities. Then the discussion focused on Polish-Jewish relations, where the President broadly expressed his insightful views and opinions. The ECTR has invited the President to the International Forum “Let My People Live!”, which will be organized by the ECTR in Kraków in January next year.

While in Warsaw, the ECTR delegation was i.a. also received by the Foreign Minister of Poland, Radosław Sikorski.

The visit to Warsaw assured the ECTR that Poland is following the path of Polish-Jewish dialogue and reconciliation, which has been leapfrogged forward during the Presidency of Aleksander Kwaśniewski.
