ECTR Delegation visits EUI

On 6 December 2011, Chairman of the ECTR - Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Moshe Kantor accompanied by ECTR staff have visited the European University Institute in Florence (Italy).

The purpose of the visit was the discussion about the establishment in Florence of a special Program for Tolerance in Europe, which would be available for students from around Europe.

The ECTR delegation was received the President of the EUI University, Mr. Joseph Borell Fontelles.

Moreover, in the framework of the EUI’s Debating Europe series, the Chairmen of the ECTR gave a public lecture entitled “The Future of Europe and the EU Neighborhood”. The lecture took place in the Teatro of the University. Professor Marise Cremona will serve as discussant of the lecture and the following debate.

Debating Europe is a new pillar of the EUI’s activities, focused on debating the process of European integration and the major issues confronting contemporary European society. In line with the Convention setting up the EUI, this programme will be a primary platform for the exchange and discussion of ideas and experiences. Debating Europe is conceptualised as a high-level initiative that reflects on – and impacts – the European policy debate, and that enables the EUI to contribute to this debate.
